Build a Kindle Edition-Anyone Can! |
Here is a proven step-by-step method for getting eBooks built and published for Amazon’s Kindle eReader by an experienced publisher of Kindle Editions. The author has helped content creators through editing, book layout, cover design, publication, and promotion for eBooks and print-on-demand books. Since the arrival of the Kindle, he has been involved daily in producing books according to the Amazon’s requirements for Kindle Editions. He has organized Build a Kindle Edition—Anyone Can! as a guide and reference tool. Here is a road map for building a personal eBook, or for making one to publish in the Kindle Store. Experienced and would-be authors will find clear explanations of proven techniques that enable them to create, publish, and promote an eBook in a short time. The author’s approach is not hype and theory. He uses three book building projects that have been published to show how his methods work. The first book building project covers a work of fiction. The second deals with the requirements of a nonfiction book. The third shows the particular details of building an anthology of poetry. If you ever thought about writing, but hesitated after realizing how hard it can be to have a book published through the old publishing establishment, here is a method to achieve your aspirations. Amazon’s revolutionary Kindle eReader along with its Digital Text Platform for publishing has democratized the industry. Now, YOU can create and market your eBook. Carpe diem! The book is a practical tutorial that explains, through building three example Kindle Editions, how to create books for personal use or for sale at the Kindle Store. Contents: 1. Comment: virtual neighborhood watch: open source software and community policing against cybercrime.: An article from: Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology |
This digital document is an article from Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, published by Thomson Gale on January 1, 2007. The length of the article is 12629 words. The page length shown above is based on a typical 300-word page. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Digital Locker immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser.
From the author: Cybercrime--crime committed through the use of a computer--is a real and growing problem that costs governments, businesses, and individual computer users millions of dollars annually and that facilitates many of the same crimes committed in realspace, such as identity theft and the trafficking of child pornography, only on a larger scale. However, the current strategies deployed by law enforcement to combat cybercrime have proven ineffective. Borne out of traditional notions of criminal behavior, these strategies and tactics are often ill-suited to prevent or punish cybercrime, which often defies the traditional notions of criminal behavior bounded by the corporeal world such as scale and proximity. This Comment argues that a more effective methodology in the fight against cybercrime is to develop a model of community policing, in which the power to deter and prevent cybercrime is divested into the hands of individual computer users. One such strategy for achieving effective community policing against eybercrime is through the increased use of open-source software, software in which users are given access to the underlying source code and may make modifications to that source code in order to ameliorate vulnerabilities that may enable cybercrime. This Comment looks at the development of traditional community policing strategies and argues that the increased use of open source software--spurned by greater involvement by government and corporations--may be a more effective technique in the fight against cybercrime.
