A voice that's so strong and distinctive, it can pull almost anything off. Named for Giambattista Bodoni (1740-1813), Bodoni's design was an immediate success - a fact confirmed by its widespread imitation. Morris Fuller Benton revived Bodoni in 1909, the consensus being that his Bodoni was an improvement on the original, especially in the italics. USES: Bold as brass, especially when used in display headlines. Use the Book weight for long blocks of text copy. Bitstream Classification for this typeface is Bodoni, Modern 421.
